S is for Satisfied - (meditation by Cheryl)
The
fear of the Lord leads to life,
and whoever has it rests satisfied;
he will not be visited by harm.
Proverbs 19:23
and whoever has it rests satisfied;
he will not be visited by harm.
Proverbs 19:23
I had to
ponder this scripture because every translation I read seemed to say something
different! My interpretation is simply that when we fear and respect the Lord
we will be satisfied in the life He has given us. We will still have adversity and trouble with sin in our lives but we will
react to these situations with a healthier outlook because we know the Lord is
with us. To be satisfied means to be content, free of doubt, assured that our
needs will be met. All these things can be ours if only we trust in the Lord
and are willing to allow Him to lead us through life. Harm may still come to us, as this is not a perfect world, but one day, if we believe, we will be safe and
secure in the arms of our Lord.

Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteI agree. "Not be visited by harm" doesn't mean never have trouble. It means the enemy does not win. Our souls are secure in Christ.
I have a friend who is going through something awful right now, and even in her circumstances she is still reverent to God. While most would consider this "harm," she still musters up a smile and praises through her turmoil. This verse made me think of her. While she is obviously to everyone else being visited by harm, she genuinely is satisfied in knowing this is not the end of her. Great post. Gonna have to share this with her.
