B
is for Better - (Meditation by Dawn)

Better is a dry morsel with quiet
than a house full of feasting with strife. Proverbs 17: 1
than a house full of feasting with strife. Proverbs 17: 1
There
is something about a quiet moment, like a deep breath. It is satisfying and
peaceful. It reminds me of a morning that I crept downstairs, leaving my
sleeping family behind, and I entered my chilly sun-porch. It was not yet dawn,
but I felt an overwhelming need to go to God. I wrapped myself in a blanket and
began to pray and praise Him.
I
went to God that morning alone in the quiet and left filled to the brim.
Proverbs 17:1 reminds me that when we are spiritually “dry”, we need to go to
the Lord in the quiet and leave distractions of life behind.
Wonderful post, Dawn. It's good to remember to take those quiet moments alone with your own thoughts, heart, and God. Happy A to Z and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLaura, Yes, it is. Thanks for your comment. You also have a great week!
DeleteSo necessary in life--and so seldom practiced. Thank you for the reminder, Dawn.
ReplyDeleteI've taken quite a few quiet moments today. Just praying and praying.
DeleteThose moments are what I need, but don't grab them regularly. If I had that bread and jam, I might be more willing to take the time. ")
ReplyDeleteSusan, Do you need me to come over there and make it for you? Don't make me do that! Take the quiet time with God, so I don't have to bully you. LOL.
DeleteI'm going to email you soon. We have an urgent prayer request.
Love this, it is so peaceful. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteFeFiFo (cute name),
DeleteThank you for visiting! I need some "quiet" time right now. :0)
yes, this is excellent advice. An unlit candle can't light others. We need to fill our spiritual cups before we can help others and helping other is so essential. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteJessica,
DeleteThat is so true. I know I need to take more quiet time moments with God and fill up.
Yes, I find it very satisfying and soul-filling if you like, to go and watch the sunrise alone, and pray.
ReplyDeleteThis is me, Duncan D. Horne, visiting you from the A-Z challenge, wishing you all the best throughout April and beyond.

ReplyDeleteAmber,
DeleteOh, I'm so glad! Thank you so much for stopping by! Hugs.
Dawn, I've been feeling this need lately...I think I'm gonna go to bed early and run in the morning, When I really need some time with Jesus, I go for a run and we talk and just run together. Such sweet times.

So very true. Any family gathering with a lot of food and extended family makes me long for just a morsel and quiet.
