Writing Challenge: A Splash of Colors

Orange

Leave this splash of color; don’t wipe it up!
Here creation and re-creation converge.
God gave us His sun* to light our world.
He gives us His Son** to light our hearts.
Still brilliant and burning, the sun provides life on earth.
Once battered and bleeding, the Son prepares life in heaven.
A temporary yellow is covered by an eternal red.
Savor the orange; soak it in!
Thank God for birth and re-birth.
Thank Him for Life.

*Gen 1:3, 4 [RSV]
**Jn 8:12 [RSV]

(What truths in Scripture remind you of a color, especially your favorite? As a writing challenge, share your thoughts in the comments section. We would love to hear from you.)

  1. Note to readers: This poem was done by one in our writing group who wishes to be anonymous, but he graciously allowed us to share it.

My comments: I LOVE the reference to colors and comparing the sun to the Son. This poem is a splash of joy and hope.

There are so many colors referenced in the Bible. This would be a wonderful challenge for the writing group. Write your own poem about a color that touches you spiritually.
